Ferhat Boratav

Ferhat Boratav was born in stanbul in 1959. He attended stanbul Erkek Lisesi and he studied social sciences and history at the Boğaziçi University. He graduated in 1982. His post-graduate studies at the Grenoble University in France were on the Turkish immigrants.
Ferhat Boratav’s media career began at the Nokta newsmagazin. After a short period in the advertising sector he went to London to work as a radio journalist/presenter at the BBC World Service’s Turkish Section. Boratav came back to Turkey in 1992, and became Executive Producer of a television production company.
He then went back to the newsroom, first as an editor at Show TV, and then as the Managing Editor of ATV News. He joined CNN TÜRK as the Editor-in-Chief, shortly before its launch in 1999.
Ferhat Boratav is married. He speaks English, French and German. He consider his years in the Drama Club of his University and his work as a cook in France as important experiences for his subsequent career.
